In today’s blog, we will introduce you to the Big Boulder Lake Club – a private club, that is located in the serene city of Lake Harmony of Pennsylvania. But before we dive right into it, let us get to know a little something about the lake, shall we?

The Boulder Lake was made in the year of 1957. This lake is popularly known for its water activities such as fishing, sailing, swimming and boating. People can also enjoy winter activities in Lake Harmony, as there is enough water for snow-making machines during the cold season. As of now, the lake is accessible to the members of the private club only.

The Boulder Lake Club is located near the renowned Jack Frost and Big Boulder Mountain ski areas. Members of this club are limited to particular Homeowner Associations.

The members-only club offers a variety of things such as two heated pools, access to the beach, playground, marina, and boating and sports equipment for their guest to enjoy.

2. Big Boulder Lake Boating

  • The Boulder Lake Club offers a great variety of fun watercraft for members to enjoy, including canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, rowboats, electric motorboats, paddleboards, sailboats, and even pontoon boats. This gives members lots of options to get out on the water.
  • One important rule is that gas-powered motors are not allowed on the lake, with the exception of the club's own rescue boat. This helps keep the lake peaceful and environmentally friendly.
  • To use any of the club's boats, members and renters will need to pay the posted rental rates. You can find the current rates on the club's website. There's also a fee charged if any equipment gets lost or damaged, so members and renters are asked to handle the boats with care.
  • For safety reasons, all boaters must follow the instructions of the club staff when out on the water. Members and renters are expected to boat responsibly and avoid any reckless behavior.
  • Alcohol and smoking are prohibited on the club's boats. And anyone under 12 must wear a life jacket provided by the club.
  • Finally, no one is allowed on the lake, beach or club property when the facilities are closed for the day. This is just to ensure everyone's safety.

3. Big Boulder Lake Fishing

  • Fishing is allowed at the Big Boulder Lake Club, but only from the club's rental boats. No fishing is permitted from the beach, shoreline, or docks.
  • It's important to note that Boulder Lake is a catch-and-release only lake. This means any fish you catch must be carefully returned to the water unharmed. The club strictly enforces this catch-and-release policy to help maintain the health of the fishery.
  • The lake is home to a variety of common game fish, including largemouth and smallmouth bass, striped bass, rock bass, bluegill sunfish, lake trout, yellow perch, catfish, and black crappie. So, there's a nice mix of species for anglers to target.
  • Anyone 16 years of age and older will need a valid fishing license, which should be visibly displayed on your hat or outer clothing when fishing (fishing license is offered in Club’s office for a fee).
  • And just like with the boating rules, no one is allowed on the lake, beach or club property when the facilities are closed for the day. This is for everyone's safety.
